Breakfast Burritos

While in the middle of Manhatten in New York City we found several places serving Breakfast Burritos. Since then we have made them at home using the following outline:

Ingredients
  1. Black beans
  2. Onions
  3. Mushrooms
  4. Green peppers
  5. Two eggs (for two people)
  6. Cheese (preferrably cheddar)
  7. Salsa, sour cream, tobasco sauce are optional
  8. Wraps or tortillas

Steps

  1. Cook beans, onions, mushrooms, and peppers in a pan.
  2. Scramble eggs in another pan. Add cheese.
  3. When both are almost done combine the two if you don't mind it messy style.
  4. Heat the wrap on top of an open flame so part of the bread gets slightly flaky and burny (don't start a fire!).
  5. Either dump the beany egg mess on the tortilla or make neat layers of beans and egg in your burrito.
  6. You can add other things like hot peppers and sauces to taste.
  7. Experiment! Try this several ways to find what is best.

The Best Clydes Restaurant

There are numerous restaurants of the Clydes Restaurant Group. However, we have only been to the Clydes of Georgetown and the Clydes of Gallery Place in the DC area. The Clydes of Georgetown is the better of the two. Our favorite dishes include: calamari with olives, tomatoes, and capers; artichoke dip; a salad with candied nuts, dried cherries, poached pears, blue cheese, and duck (ask to substitute duck with scallops!); and finally crème brûlée. Most restaurants usually serve crème brûlée as an egg custard and do not get the cracked top right but this is not the case for the Clydes of Georgetown.

The Clydes of Gallery Place is terrible. The atmosphere is overwelming and the food is not as good. More of the menu is fried and oily, for example the calamari is fried. And lastly we have not been as lucky with our waiters in that they are not as friendly; this is probably because of the much busier atmosphere.

Anyway. If you choose to check Clydes out go to Georgetown. The food and service is excellent. Also if you are a night owl, you can go check out their late night menu (Sunday/Thursday until 12:00 am and Friday/Saturday until 1:00 am).

Japanese Row, College Park

Found two excellent sushi restaurants on College Ave, College Park, MD. The first one called Yami Yami sells creative sushi rolls under names like "catapiller roll" and "crunchy roll." The Yami Yami rolls are large with pollock filler on the inside and avocado and fish on the outside.

The second one called Wasabi Bistro has more traditional sushi rolls. The Wasabi Bistro rolls are smaller but contain fresher fish. The Wasabi Bistro had specialties like Ikura (salmon eggs) placed inside of an elegant cucumber cup.
